: I have a 1931 Tudor. I cannot understand this but a loud noise has just appered. it sounds like a wistle and can be heard at idile. I have greased the water pump and the distributer. : Any Ideas Brian, you can remove the fan belt. The removal of this belt eliminates the generator and water pump as being a source for your noise. If the noise is eliminated when the engine is started, then check the generator bearings by turning it by hand.If no "rough" bearings are felt, then try the Water pump the same way.It could also be the intake manifold gasket as suggested or the distribuitor bushings.Best of luck!
