That seat should not have a wood base.It was to be CORDED. That's where you sew a channel along the lower edge of the cushion, run a "clothsline" type cord through said channel, then pull seat cover edge with enclosed cord down into the u-shaped channel of the seat spring.Holding onto the entire mess gamely, you close the metal channel trapping cord and fabric channel inside.Which brings us to the "stops"They look for all the world like two pieces of bent coat-hanger. They were clamped directly into said heavy u-shaped spring edge and extended down for about 2 inches then took a 45 degree bend for another inch or so.I'm not doing this much justice and I don't know how to draw on the internet, but then they turned around 90 degrees and followed that shape back to the u channel, so they are effectively doubled. With four of the clamps they use to fasten the coils to the u channel, and a coat hanger or two, you could make them.Locate them so they stick down into the metal brackets you described. |
