Leo, I have recently installed insert bearings in my A and know of other owners that have also done this. Its a fairly easy job for a good machine shop to do. The main bearing journals have to be align honed to accept the inserts. the insert is TRW Clevite 77 part #CB988P, these come in std.,.010,.020 & .030. These are rod bearings that fit MG/Austin. You will need 6 or 7 sets, 2 sets for each front & center mains & 2 or 3 for the rear main. 3 sets fit the whole length of the main (which I prefer) or you can use 2 if you prefer. Notch the block and caps for the bearing tabs and you'll have to drill the oil hole in the bearing. See if the machine shop can save the old poured thrust washers, if not you'll have to make them out of brass or aluminum an pin them to the block. Its worth the effort. Good luck,

BOB: What alterations are needed to install modern clip-in bearings into an "A" block? It is getting harder to find someone to poor them! What would be the negative aspects of doing this? I see in the Model "A" News a reference to F.A.S.T. technology but no address was given. Anyone know where it is?
