All the wiring harnesses are the same as you describe. First, I would return it for a replacement. Something may have happened in production. I would also tell them the problem so they can check their stock and send you a good one. Second, I have had a similar problem with not making good contact and corrected the problem by adding sorder to build upthe terminal. Of course the harness terminal is the easiest to get to.
