Perhaps you have the wrong seat.A July '31 and later coupe uses an all-metal framed seat with a kind of "built into it" riser. The section where the tracks fasten is several inches lower than the part where the cushion sits.Your cushion should have an oak frame-work with routered edges onto which your spring is affixed and the upholstery fabric is nailed. This framework holds the cushion in the correct position, so your lower extremities do no "fall into" the seat pan. There are no "boards" used in either the early or late seat.In the case of the early seat, there is a steel lower riser, then the tracks are fastened to a wooden seat base, which again is an elegent oak outer framework with an open center which provides the ledge for the cushion and its oak framework to rest.Does any of this sound familiar? |
