: i need the babbits redone in my '30ford,, is there a replacement bearing that could go in there in replace of the babbit ?

There are no removable bearing shells (inserts) which a rebuilder can just "stick in" to replace the babbitt.Quite a few rebuilders today do machine the block, main caps and rods to accept standard insert bearings, but it requires good skills to do a proper job.Once done, though, the bearings should be much more durable and heat resistant than the original thick poured babbit bearings.A lot of rebuilders also modify the block and crankshaft to provide pressurized oil flow to the bearings for better lubrication and cooling for longer bearing life, especially if modifications are done to increase the horsepower also.
