I would first suggest that you order the "Model A Judging Standards and Restoration Guidelines" - you can order it from MARC or MAFCA headquarters and it details what color combinations are considered original to your car (there are 5).It also diagrams where which colors were used on the car, i.e. what are the upper and lower body areas, reveal areas, belt moulding areas. The other excellent guide is the "Model A Ford Paint and Finish Guide" published by MAFCA, and recognized by MAFCA as a supplement to the Judging Standards. It is a wealth of information about how the Model A was originally painted and the proper appearance of the paint (which areas were dull, which shiny) and undercarriage paint appearance. If you are going to have your car judged by Blue Ribbon standards, you should make every effort to follow these accepted guidelines for paint.Any deviation will result in a deduction of points, and might even disqualify the car from Blue Ribbon judging. If you aren't going to enter judging, then you have more freedom, but most restorers believe the value of the car is much higher if painted in an authentic way!
