: I think it may be about time to replace the 6V : battery for my Model A.This one lasted about : 2 1/2 years with about 1-3 10 mile drives per month : and occasional intermittant charging. Are there : any brands that are superior in holding the charge : or lasting longer? What about the "old" companies : (like Exide and ACDelco batteries) which were in the : business when Model A's were new? : Thanks as ever: I've learned so much from this Website. I'm not sure any battery would survive the conditions you have.A battery really needs to be used regularly to keep the build up of sulphates off the plates. The occassional use that your Model "A" gets, won't provide the chemical reaction needed. You might want to consider one of the battery maintainers that keep the battery fully charged, without over charging. They are not trickle chargers. These are advertised in various publications...I thenk they are called"Battery Tender".I have a friend who swares by them. As far as where to buy a battery, the last one I bought was from Sam's Club for $27.50.Two years later it's still going strong.I have to admit though, the last time I was in Sam's I didn't see any. |
