Ken,

The key here is that you have a Pickup. On the regular passenger cars the 1930 running boards had zinc trim between the fenders and the running boards. The running board and splash shield were one unit (are yours one unit ?). Since the Pickup running board is different I do not know what if anything separated it from the fenders.I do know that the splash shield front 'nose' section was spot welded to the fender with no welting.There was welting between the two parts of the splash shields. The only information I can come up with is that a friction tape anti-squeak strip was used between the splash shield and the running board. Perhaps this tape was also used between the running boards and the fenders. What do you Pickup trucks owners have to say ?
