: I am in a puzzle if something is correct or not! I own a 1930 Model "A" Closed Cab Pickup. This 82-B has the two piece side splash shield. Currently I have welting that continues from the bottom of the cab(in between the two sections of side splash shields) downward to separate the rear end of the front fender/running board and continues on to the outside edge of the running board. There is also a short piece of welting that starts at the inside rear corner of the running board and fender. This piece of welting separates the edge of the running board from the bottom of the rear fender. Both ends of this welting are at the outside of the running board and looks awkwardly wrong!!!! PURE UGLY! The welting is just cut off and you can see the innards of the welting! My question is this: Is there welting in these areas at all? The ends are disgusting!! I would think welting would be located here for no other reasons than for squeak control and keeping the paint from rubbing off! HELP!!!!

I don't think Ford ever used any type of welting between the running board and fenders, front or rear. There was welting between the splash shield and fenders, and the edge of the splash shield was covered with fabric friction tape where it fit into the running board. There were also pieces of fabric welt (like frame welt) between the running boards and their supporting brackets.
