: : My friend has a 1930 Model A that "bucks" excessively
: : when decelerating.At 15 down to 10 mph this "bucking"
: : is especially troublesome. When you acelerate at these
: : speeds there is no problem. It just smoothes out and
: : picks up speed with no bucking.

: : This is a real problem when driving slowly in parades.
: : The timing appears to be correct.Anybody have any
: : suggestions on correcting this problem?

: : Thank you.Ed Paulson

: Interesting problem Ed... I'm experiencing the same problem with the 'A' I'm presently driving. It bucks only in 1st gear going very slow. I shift into 2nd as quickly as possible and the bucking is gone at that same slow speed. This all started after installing a new rebuilt engine with
: clutch and pressure plate. It'll be interesting to hear from others on this problem...hopefully both our problems will be solved.

How does the symptom change when the spark lever is retarded? Also, could it be that the carb might need an idle adjustment.Good luck on yout cures.
