Dean,
The Model A Victoria Association is trying to build a log of all known Victorias by body type (steelback & leatherback), body manufacturer, shades, seat type (bar adjustable & slide adjustable) and any other details.
Both Briggs and Murray made the Victoria coupe and both steel and leather were designated A-190.
There was some thinking that all the leatherbacks were Briggs and the steel backs were Murray but that hasn't been proved by the data we have. Also there was some thinking that the leatherbacks were only produced in the early months of production. The data does tend to point in this direction as we don't have any confirmed leatherbacks with late serial numbers (body data plate not engine number).
There is a definite difference in steelback construction vs. leatherback. The sheet metal doesn't go all the way up to the"top insert" as you are used to seeing on most other A's and there is more wood (if that is possible) on the leatherback to support the upper body area.
As far as the going price, Bob is right as far as what I've seen in the association newsletter and following prices in The Restorer and Model A News.
John
