Dick, it sounds like your coupe may be Kewanee Green and Elkpoint Green, in which case an Apple Green stripe is correct.Actually the "correct" color for you wheels is black.As you may know, Ford only painted wheels in color on some of the later 31 models, although from what I have read, appearantly some of the dealers painted wheels to liven things up a bit.

If you are going to paint your wheels it is generally accepted to follow the color of the pinstripe, in your case apple green.

I would think that sandblasting or beadblasting would be the best way to clean up wheels prior to repainting.Sanding, filling and spot putty is tedious work - be patient if you want a really nice looking wheel when your finished.Some guys are going to a powder coating, which I understand is a more durable finish.No experience with this;maybe someone else has some thoughts and recommendations.
