As the other fellows say, there are Diode replacements that will work nicely.
If the wire end from the inner coil is visible, then there's a good chance it could be easily spliced back to the base housing. If, however, it broke up inside the coil then things get a good deal harder. Anything can be fixed, but some things aren't worth it. I just finished an original script cutout for my '31, and probably have about 6-7 hours in it all told
One problem with the REPRO magnetic cutouts is that they really aren't up to the quality level of the originals which worked quite well unless they were damaged or grossly out of adjustment.
