Model A service in the thirtys vs todays

in 1941 i drove a 31 tudor from peoria il to L.A. and back and had only one repair ,front wheel bearing. also to grand old opera, and to minnesota, back and forth to rockisland. i was using drain oil, back then the service stations had a drum out back they put their old oil in, after is set it was clear as new. i drove thru the old route 66 in snow and heat with no antifreeze never had a problem. someone must have been looking out for me.i didnot have any spare parts with me. so i wish someone tell me why the newer Model A need to carry so many spare parts just to go 300 miles or so. i am having a 1931 tudor restored for me but i am almost afraid to drive it. how many miles should a redone motor run on average? im new on the internet, age 74, i hope this message gets out thanks
