: If you are not going to show your A in judging, reproduction bumpers from reputable sources are ususlly less expensive than properly restoring and plating original bumpers. The originals were not polished on the backs and edges, but most reproductions are.Reproductions are also available in stainless steel, but I'll bet they don't have as much "spring" in them and wouldn't offer the same protection as spring steel bumpers. There are good chrome shops who know how to replate originals the right way, but be prepared to pay for their skills!

Hi Ray..

To follow up on what Jack said, I have stainless bumpers on my 30 Coupe. They are not polished on the back side, and in my opinion, they look as good if not better than the chrome ones, and will never rust.Another good feature about them is that if you do get a scratch, all you have to do is grind, sand and polish the bumper bar back to it's original shine. My bars are made of non-magnetis stainless (300 series).400 series stainless is magnetic because the nickel content is less.If you go to buy them, take a magnet along!
