: Is it more economical to have bumpers chromed or to buy new ones for a Model A?
We've recently had bumpers for a '29 and a '30 done at a shop in Fayetteville, NC. The cost was slightly more than the repro bumpers, but not too much. With replating, you know you will have quality original materials, you have reasonable control over the quality of the plating, and you keep the A more or less original. With the repros you have none of this. Also, if you have something like our early '30with a longer front bumper (up to roughly Aug. according to one source), the only repro I've seen is of the shorter, later one. (something like 61.25 inches compared to 64 inches).

If you're interested I can dig out the exact cost and info on the place for you. We also had a bunch of chrome for a '56 Chevy done at the same time so I'm not exactly sure what the breakdown was on the price.
