: Ever try to remove the glass bowl on your inside cowl mounted sediment bowl for cleaning, only to have it leak when you ressembled it?Which is better?Cork or neoprene gaskets? You would think that neoprene was better because it's dense, but it deforms after use, and you have to throw it away.I have yet to get a leak free connection on the first try.Screen first, then the gasket and bowl.Any of you have any hints on how to eliminate this headache? Thanks!
I may have misunderstood your problem, but the screen fits in an indent in the glass bowl. The gasket (cork or neoprene) then goes on top of bowl and seats it to housing. The cork gasket is a one use item, but I have had excellent use out of the neoprene gaskets. I have not noticed them being distorted and not resealing on reuse. You may want to check the sealing surface. It may be rough, pitted, like pot metal does. I routinely use neoprene, even replacing the cork gasket when installing a repro bowl assembly.
