Rick if your adding modest electrical accesories you could also have the generator rebuilt to put out 12v with negative ground. I did this on my 51 Ford truck with good results. Had generator rebuilt and got a 12v regulator for $100, used the 6v starter as is. Other modifications needed were a 12v battery, voltage limiter for original dash gauges (Ford used these in the dashs of their vehicles in the 70`s, cost $20 new), all lights to be changed and a ballast resistor and coil for the points, and astarter soleniod. I used the 6v starter for years of summer driving with no trouble---truck started so fast you couldn`t let go of starter button fast enough. Only item that didn`t look original was the battery, well this is just another option you could consider.
