You cut off the old and weld on the new.Since they're subframe rails and will have the skin of the car all around and atop them, "strength" is not a concern provided you weld them properly. (None of this simulated bird dropping stuff)If you must replace them, then you must, but be afraid - be very afraid.The new rails are far from exact.We do our level best to save the old ones if we possibly can.Measure everything about 15 times before you make that one cut.Measure everything about 15 more times before you weld in place.These rails vary from month to month, to go with the different underseat panels and seats. The "repros" are one-size-fits-nothings, so look out - especially if you have a post-April '31.They can be used - just don't expect it to be easy.(See posting on my new book - lookes like you're going to need it.) |
