: I am now lucky enough to have an intrest in a 1930 Ford A I would like to find a 6volt positive to 12 volt negative converter about 5-10 amps would be nice. : I remember such a thing about 20 years ago. any help? thanks, Rick. Unless you have a show car and want to enter it into competition, consider converting to a 12 volt negative ground system. Then you can use an early GM alternator, change out the internal regulator to a self exciting one, and wire it with one wire like the original generator. There are many benefits, such as 12 volt halogen headlights, a snappier starter and the use of the modern accessories without a converter. There is an excellent article that describes the conversion in the March/April 1991 issue of the Restorer. |
