Mine was rather badly cracked also, at the ends, and all through the spring seat area.Check your crossmember for thinning in the spring seat. Mine was down to 1/16".
I laid a 1.5" steel strip 1/8" thich in the channel (under the crossmember) and welded it along the sides, and at the ends.
I also had to plug and re-bore the motor mount hole since it was WAY oversized. Mine was also cracked at the ends where it joined the frame rails.

The longest part of the job is grinding down all the welds.I bought a $29.00 die grinder at Home depot and find it VERY handy for such things.

By the way the spring seat area on the rear crossmember was cracked too. I didn't see it until I sand-blasted.
