It is indeed a controversy.Some schools claim that hardened valve seats should be installed in the block because the engine runs hotter with unleaded.Unsure.Others say buy a can of lead additive to keep the engine running like it used to, and keep the valves from burning.Others say that just use any unleaded gas and you won't have problems.For what it's worth, during the overhaul of my engine, I used all stainless steel valves which are "cut under" a little more under the head of the valve, supposedly to improve "breathing".Snake oil?I guess to err on the safe side, get some leaded gas or the additive and have fun while waiting to tear down the engine and look.. Surely this will stir up all kinds of interest, and I can't wait to hear what all the other Model Ayers think about it.
