: I had to put an 8 or 10 common nail in the overflow tube to stop from loosing water.Make sure it doesn't go down the overflow tube.The head of the nail will act to restrict the overflow from going out the hole.The other thing, is that when checking the water level when cool it will be a few inches below the normal "hot" running level.
I had a similar problem when using antifreeze in the rad.When I use just water, I do not get any overflow.
