The Voltage Regulators that I have seen fit inside a replacement brush cover on the end of the generator.There goes your powerhouse.When installed, your cutout is non-functional and the VR takes over.I considered purchasing one of these but given the cost, I opted to use the diode inside a can method.Hope this helps.
